STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY
As community members living in the northwestern Catskills––including representatives of local institutions, business owners, and people from a wide range of backgrounds and lived experiences––we stand against racism, sexism, ableism, and other forms of harm perpetrated on any member of our community on the basis of their identity. We recognize our common humanity and embrace the differences that make us stronger, more vibrant, and culturally rich.
Catskills Unity is a messaging campaign to make visible our shared commitment to community-building rooted in mutual respect, equity, and empathy. We strongly condemn the violent acts of white supremacy and xenophobia taking place across the country targeting Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American, LGBTQ+, Muslim, Jewish, and other marginalized peoples. We are committed to unity and safety.
We invite everyone to join us in standing together against hate, division, and violence. Let us see and hear each other, watch out for each other, and provide mutual aid so we can all thrive. Together we are a strong community––one that strives for equity and justice.
